INDIVIDUAL CONSULTING, COUNSELING, OR COACHING

In some seasons of life or career, people seek out growth opportunities and consult with a coach to help them enhance their performance or reach their goals. In other seasons growth is forced upon individuals or organizations through crisis or changing circumstances. Counseling can provide support and tools in the face of such challenges.

COUPLES

All couples face challenges. Whether you are feeling stuck in a rut or facing a major hurdle, couples therapy can help. Having a designated time and place set aside to focus on your relationship can improve day to day life. Communication with a trained professional to provide structure and support can be transformative.

PRE-ENGAGEMENT OR PRE-MARITAL COUNSELING

Marriage is a life-changing relationship. This type of couples counseling includes the PREPARE/ENRICH relationship inventory.  PREPARE/ENRICH uses over 150 itemized questions to measure the couple’s compatibility in many different areas including:

  • communication
  • conflict resolution
  • financial management
  • leisure activities
  • sexual relationship
  • children and parenting

This approach to couples counseling will give you the opportunity to assess your relationship, build on your strengths as a couple, and gain communication skills. It helps you make informed decisions about your relationship and develop plans to navigate engagement and marriage.

FAMILY

Families members leave deep imprints on each other. Ideally, families provide a safe place for all members to grow and develop at their own pace in an environment of love, acceptance, trust, and support. But all families face challenges, and some face unique situations that interfere with family functioning. Setting aside time to hear the needs of each family member and nurture relationships that have been derailed can bring healing and improve the way things work at home. A family therapist can provide structure and space to make each family member feel heard and respected.

EMDR THERAPY

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an approach to therapy that helps clients overcome troubling memories of life experiences that are interfering with optimal wellness in the present. Reprocessing these memories in the safety of the present with a trained therapist helps integrate old memory networks with new, more adaptive learning. This process pairs sensory stimulation (bilateral eye movements) with clients’ accurate present-day beliefs and empowering concepts of self. Clients report experiencing enhanced feelings of safety and wellness and reduced symptoms of fear, worry, anger, and sadness. EMDR therapy is recognized as an effective form of trauma treatment worldwide. In the US, this includes organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association and Department of Defense.

EMDR has also been used to help athletes, artists, and business leaders enhance their confidence and effectiveness in competitive performance environments.
